Bowie woman wins $50,000 playing Bonus Match 5
“Persistence pays off,” reports one lucky Maryland Lottery player who found a $50,000 winning Bonus Match 5 ticket in the Sept. 13 drawing. The Bowie woman, who nicknamed herself “Gambling Granny,” has enjoyed her 12-year run as an avid Lottery player despite her lack of a big win. Lottery luck finally found her!
The 70-year-old frequently visits T&T Liquors, just minutes from her home, to buy her Lottery games and did just that on Sept. 13. The lucky lady plays Bonus Match 5 regularly and always buys quick-pick tickets. She checked the Lottery website when she got home later that evening and, at first glance, thought she won $400. After a second look, the Prince George’s County resident knew she had a top-prize win.
She immediately called her daughter and shared the great news but hasn’t told anyone else. “Gambling Granny” has been retired from her job in retail for four years. She plans to pay off bills with her prize so that she can continue to enjoy retirement.
The lucky grandma also made T&T Liquors a lucky store. Located at 13801 Annapolis Road in Bowie, T&T Liquors will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling the top-prize Bonus Match 5 ticket.
